How to install a new font in Linux

if you are doing media works like word processing or image design or new logo design you need to try different fonts. If you are using Linux operating system then this can be a bit tricky.

Gettting fonts:
You can get fonts from websites such as http://www.dafont.com/  or https://www.fontsquirrel.com/ .
Mostly these downloaded files will be compressed files, so unzip them and have them ready.

As Root user:
Copying to the font location:
If you want to install it to the main font location then you need to be either root or be part of sudo group.

gksu pcmanfm /usr/share/fonts/truetype/
sudo fc-cache -fv

As Non Root user:

$ mkdir .fonts
$ cp *.ttf .fonts

fc-cache -fv

Now use it in your favourite tool and enjoy 🙂
